About the Artist

Alemayehu Bekele, born in Addis Ababa in 1994, is an Ethiopian architect and artist. He

graduated from Mekelle University in 2017 with a degree in Architecture from the Ethiopian

Institute of Technology-Mekelle. Alongside his architectural studies, he pursued fine arts

training at the Enlightenment Art Academy and the Abyssinia Fine Art School. Alemayehu's

artistic journey is deeply intertwined with his architectural background. His signature medium

is string art, using sewing thread, wool, wire, and yarn woven between nails to create realistic

portraits and intricate geometric compositions. His works blend mathematical precision with

artistic expression, often producing optical illusions and deeply emotional pieces. Exhibitions
